This Week's Bite-Sized Health Tip:
Quick Nutrition for pups & yourself: Did you know that brown algae, such as the breed A. nodosum, can improve oral health, dental concerns, bleeding gums, stop cavities from sticking and increase immune function in dogs, cats, and humans? And it’s quick and easy to get into the diet. See the recipe below:
Recipe of the Week (For doggies): Marine, Green & Quinoa Feast
Ingredients:
· Sardines, 125g can in Springwater, drained
· 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
· 1/2 cup broccoli, steamed and chopped
· 1/2 cup carrots, cooked and mashed
· 2 tablespoons coconut oil
· 1/2 tsp. brown seaweed powder
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, break the sardines into small pieces with a fork.
2. Add the cooked quinoa, broccoli, carrots, and coconut oil, seaweed to the bowl.
3. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
4. Depending on the size, breed, activity level & age of your pup, they will enjoy this nutritious recipe between 2-5 servings.
Benefits:
· Sardines provide high-quality protein, calcium and omega-3 fatty acids, benefiting skin, bone and coat health.
· Quinoa is a gluten-free seed that offers complete protein and is extremely rich in vitamins and minerals.
· Carrots provide beta-carotene for eye & skin health.
· Coconut oil supports healthy skin, coat health and is anti-fungal.
· Seaweed powder is extremely beneficial for dental health, protecting teeth from cavities, and increasing immune function.
